The energy centre of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster has been supplying the entire university, the university medical centre as well as additional state facilities with steam, district heating, district cooling and electricity. As general contractor, Kraftanlagen Hamburg renewed the steam and hot water generation plants in 2004 – from engineering to erection and commissioning. During the implementation, the existing building was partially renovated and the new fuel supply (heating oil and natural gas) was commissioned.
The plant consists of three hot water generators of 22 MW each and three steam generators of 27 t/h each. The other components include furnaces, the fuel supply, heating oil storage tanks, water treatment, a ventilation and exhaust ventilation system, a low-voltage installation and I&C control technology.
Since the plant was built, Kraftanlagen Hamburg has been tasked with the repairs and maintenance of the entire scope of delivery. This service is usually provided twice annually in accordance with VDMA Norm 24186 and manufacturer specifications. An additional task is the preparation and support of regular boiler inspections in accordance with industrial safety regulations.
Kraftanlagen Hamburg's own spare parts warehouse and the on-call service that is available 24/7 all year round ensure a quick response if required. Prompt optimisations and energy controlling improve the plant efficiency, conversion work and innovations ensure that the plants are always state-of-the-art.
