Decentralised power generation, cooling and refrigeration supply

Lufthansa Technik refrigeration unit, Hamburg

Parallel to the existing cooling system, Kraftanlagen Hamburg built a new system with pressure ventilated evaporative coolers. In order to homogenise the plant operation, buffer storage modules were installed in both the cold as well as cooling water cycles.

Following completion and successful trial operation, the switch to the new plants was made. In that way, an uninterrupted cooling water supply could be guaranteed during the entire construction period.

The cooling capacity of 5.2 MWth is generated by 4 evaporative cooling towers, the 4 buffer storage modules have a total volume of 152 m3.
