The Lippendorf brown coal power plant includes two blocks with an output of 920 MW each. Kraftanlagen München was tasked with modernising the fire fighting controls and replaced a total of 18 fire fighting control centres during ongoing operation of the power plant.
The expiration of the VdS approval of the existing control centres made the modernisation necessary. For safety reasons, the control centres could only be replaced during ongoing operation.
The technical equipment of the power plant, for example coal conveyors and transformers, are protected by the spray-water fire fighting systems. In case of fire, fire alarm control centres are responsible for sounding the alarm.
The fire fighting control centre then controls the alarm valve of the respective protection zone of the water extinguishing system and triggers the fire fighting process.
