ITER: Detailed engineering of systems for the retention of tritium in the Tokamak building and in the hot cells.

The fusion reactor ITER, an international research project, has been built in Cadarache in the south of France since 2012. Kraftanlagen Heidelberg has created two concepts for the retention of tritium and engineered the corresponding systems. This included the detailed engineering of the systems for the collection and detritiation of the tritium-contaminated atmosphere in the Tokamak building (TK-DS) and the hot cells (HCF-DS). The entire scope of services was carried out with expert research partners and, in addition to the comprehensive basic tasks of engineering process technology-related nuclear systems in accordance with international standards, it also included special services in both projects, such as functional analyses (FMEA) as well as HAZOP and RAMI studies.
