DFS Energy GmbH, a subsidiary of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, operates an energy centre at the location in Langen. The energy centre ensures the supply of DFS as well as the adjacent federal agencies.
In order to meet the requirements of an environmentally friendly and energy efficient operation of the energy centre now and in the future, the existing diesel engines were replaced with natural gas-powered CHP plants.
Because the supply security requirements of DFS Energy are extremely high, two diesel-powered emergency power plants with an electrical power performance of 2,500 kW were installed in addition to the CHPP modules with an electrical power performance of 2,000 kW. The contract, which was awarded to Kraftanlagen Hamburg in October 2012, includes execution, detailed and construction engineering, supply and erection as well as commissioning and documentation of the technical systems as technical general contractor. A particular challenge during this project was integrating the entire plant during the ongoing operation of the existing plant.
