Furnace upgrade for the Shell Godorf refinery

To enhance the performance and application range of the HVU2 furnace F-3601/02 at its “Werk Nord” near Cologne, Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH is planning to upgrade the furnace by using new materials and additional equipment. The main focus is on, among other things, a section of the combustion chamber, a convection zone and various lines.

As the supplier of Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH, Kraftanlagen München GmbH is responsible for handling the entire package. In detail, the job includes procurement, prefabrication, supply, dismantling and installation. Installation will take place during a 26-day shutdown as part of the turnaround planned for the second half of 2019.

A major advantage for the customer, Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH, in the handling of this order was that Kraftanlagen München carried out the engineering in cooperation with its subsidiary ECM on the basis of a variant study agreed with the customer prior to implementation. Through this cooperation within the Kraftanlagen Group, costly interface losses could also be avoided. Kraftanlagen also initiated and accompanied the design review according to the Pressure Equipment Directive with TÜV Rheinland.
